According to your question, before going in any software jobs you should first recognize that is their any need of ECE engineer as they work on computer and IT source and ECE branch deals with electronics and all which they can better understand about the hardware of computer like microcontroller Or processor designing rather than having an implementation of c programing. They have coding but in terms of register addressing. So before you go for any software companies you should have some sort of knowledge and interest in C, c++, java etc where you can have your useful hands to that company.
