Mainly you have two options either higher studies or job

For higher studies you can opt for gate(m tech)

Or for cat(MBA) it depends what you want to do

Shruti Soni 29th Sep, 2018

Later students had mainly 2 options that they used to popularly chose from - Mtech and MBA.

Now the gates are open, there are many different fields in which you can get into.

Mtech, MS, MBA still tops the list.

Also, Certification in some specialization course is now in demand, like Programming languages other technical certifications.

Civil engineers are opting interior design short courses and setting up their own businesses.

If you are forwarding to see career in upsc exams then start preparing for it.

It's upto you my friend. But sometimes it is hard to choose the exact path. So I  wish you good luck to introspect yourself and meditate your inside.

I am happy to tell you opportunities for an engineer. It's very vast but regret so many engineers are still unemployed.

After b.tech  you can opt for the following fields :

M. Tech

MBA

Civil services

GRE

These are the common paths which a b.tech graduate follow. But mind you, hopefully, a b.tech graduate can join any technical as well as non technical fields.

This much opportunity a b.tech graduate holds.

So again introspect yourself meditate your inside and of course believe in allmighty, no body can stop you.

Good luck my friend

There are mainly three great options after graduation in engineering:

M.S. in India: Apply for GATE entrance exam if you want to pursue a masters degree in your specific profession. By passing GATE with a high rank land yourself in IITs, IISc, NIT..etc. Also you get the fellowship i.e. stipend of 8k-13k from govt. And after completing the 2yrs of masters one can expect a salary package ranging from 7lacs to 13lacs.

M.S. abroad: If you have enough of bank balance and you dream of studying abroad and if you aim of settling there or becoming a CEO like satya nadella or sundar pichai then surely go abroad. It takes two tests to attempt i.e. GRE adn TOEFEL.

M.B.A: Opt for MBA if you want have an interest in management sort of things. In short if technical field doesn't suits you much then this is way to grow your career. As the combination i.e. B.E.+M.B.A. is good increases you pay perks.

Again there are two ways to do MBA i.e. MBA in abroad and MBA in india. In India there are various entrance exams varying from colleges to colleges like NMAT, CAT, SATetc and for abroad there is only GMAT and TOEFEL is language oriented test.

Many students also try for civil exams in India.

Hello Vivek,

It's great to hear from you that you are not one of those fellows who want to do nothing after the completion of their undergraduate degree. Looking for career opportunities after the engineering you can definitely do M.tech or MBA.

You can also prepare for examinations like GATE or UPSC. If you want to start earning then you can look around and have a job in your hands too.

Thank you for reading and best wishes for your future.

Vartika Pahuja 15th Mar, 2018
If you are from Indian then you must be well aware that EVERYBODY wants to become an engineer. But not all know what to do with this engineering mania. In this competitive world, much before a kid is enrolled to school; s/he is made an engineering aspirant. Ironical but truth!

Below I am enlisting 5 Career choices that you can consider after Engineering-

Campus Placement

This is coolest of all. How wonderful does it feel to have a job in hand even before you pass out? If your college has a good rapport and initiative for campus placement drive, in most likelihood you will end up getting an offer letter to lighten up your pocket as soon as you graduate in Engineering. In case you dont have any intention to study further or at least immediately after your B.Tech, then you can happily settle with campus placements offer. Gear up for campus interviews and presentation

2. Go for an M.Tech degree

Specialization always adds to the quality. If engineering is your passion then pursuing higher education in the subject is the top recommendation. With focused knowledge into the subject you would definitely by enhancing your career in engineering field and would be able to contribute quite better in your industry. On national Level, one of the criteria is to qualify GATE exam and based on your score you can apply in IIT, NIT or other universities and colleges. Fields for Mtech can be categorized as- Research, Academics, Development, Engineering Equipment.

3. Do an MBA

MBA is quite a rage these days. Regardless of graduation stream, everyone wants to hit the IIM tag. If you are more inclined towards corporate world and managerial position rather than a core engineering technical profile then MBA is for you. Its a lucrative career option for engineering aspirants. But, dont go by the myth that MBA from engineering background fetch more salary than others. Its a myth. Reality is engineering students happens to qualify more score in CAT which help them attain admission in top B schools like IIM, XLRI, FMS etc and that is the key behind good salary figures. You can look for following MBA branches as your career- Management, Finance, Banking, Consultancy, International Relations.

4. Prepare for Civil Services

Bureaucratic positions never lose its charm, come what may. No doubts its a tough cookie to crack but only students like you become successful IAS, IPS, IES officers. If you want to come in main streamline then go for IAS and if you are interested in engineering services profile then go for IES

5. Entrepreneurship-Start your venture

Who doesnt want to be his own boss? Scintillating but challenging career option after B.tech. We say it challenging because with minimal work experience, at times it gets very challenging to survive in cut throat competition coming from established and experienced business set ups. Not putting damper on your thoughts though. If you believe in yourself and has proven some actual results during your studying years then give your entrepreneurial skills a go. After all established businesses have also taken the leap and started from somewhere.

There are ample of options you can opt for after Engineering. If its after B.tech you can go for further studies like M.Tech or MBA in IIM 's or IIT's. You can also go for a teaching job or IES.

Studying abroad is the another best option.

Most of engineers who finished their engineering think only about the company where they can get settled for the rest of their personal and professional life, so you can also go for civil services.

You can even start your own small Business.

Can join Army as well.

All depends upon your interest.

All the best for future

Thankyou

There are many diploma courses as well like embedded technology, VLSI, robotics, ethical hacking, protocol testing and machine designing.

If you are interested you can also go for civil services. You can also join from  Indian Army/Navy/Air Force or any other wing.

Good Luck!!

Hi Vivek Pawade. Thanks for the A2A and using Careers360 will surely solve your queries.

Basically, you have three options to pursue after engineering:

  • Anything related to your course. This would include: going to seek a job, pursuing further research in your area of interest, etc. I would advice you to maintain a good rapport with your seniors on this end, for they will be able to help you in some ways we may not.
  • Going to pursue Civil Services: This  depends on the amount of willingness and dedication you put into the studies of the required exam. This career path requires intensive preparation
  • Pursuing your further studies abroad: Depends on your GRE score, a score of >333 will surely help you.

All the best!
