what are the Parts of Embryonal Axis ?
Hello ,
The Embryonal axis has two main parts :
- Epicotyl : The portion of embryonal axis above the level of cotyledons which terminates into stem tip or plumule.
- Hypocotyl : The cylindrical portion below the level of cotyledons which terminates into root tip or radicle.
Root tips is usually covered by root cap for easy soil penetration.
Hope this helps.
The embryonic axis consists of three parts which are listed below : -
- the plumule,
- the radicle, and
- the hypocotyl.
The portion of the embryo between the cotyledon attachment point and the radicle is known as the hypocotyl (hypocotyl means below the cotyledons) whereas the portion of embryo axis between the plumule and cotyledonary node is called epicotyl.
Thank you
