The non-compulsory subjects include four subjects as per the choice of the stream made by the student. Further, every subject (apart from Environment Education and Physical Education) is divided into two parts – written paper marks and practical or internal marks. From a total of one hundred marks, 80 marks are allotted for the written paper and 20 marks are given for practical or internal assessment. To pass a particular subject the student needs to score a minimum of 35 percent marks out of 100.
