What are the postulated of bohr model of atom? Why was this model proposed by bohr
Answer (1)
Hello Aspirant,
Postulates of Bohr's atomic model are described below :-
- Electrons revolve in definite circular around nucleus.
- As long as they revolve, they neither lose nor gain energy. Such orbits are called stationary orbits.
- When an electron jumps from an orbit of higher energy to lower energy it release energy in the form of radiations and vice-versa.
- An angular momentum of revolving electron is an integral multiple of h/2π.
It was propsed by Bohr to explain the stability of atom and the line spectrum of hydrogen atom.
I hope this answer helps you.
