NEET 2024: Cutoff (OBC, SC, ST & General Category)

NEET 2025: Syllabus | Most Scoring concepts | NEET PYQ's (2015-24)
Hello,
There are two regions coming under local area quota . Districts of East Godavari, West Godavari, Prakasam, Krishna, Srikakulam, Guntur, Vizianagaram, and Visakhapatnam are called as Andhra University Area and shall be regarded as the local area for the Andhra University and Districts of Chittoor, Ananthapur, Kurnool, Kadapa, and Nellore shall be regarded as local area for Sri Venkateswara University for the purpose of admission . So a candidate from SVU area can apply for admission at AU region and vice versa. But the candidates belonging from the area will get some priority in terms of cut off compared to candidates who are not natives of that region. For example if you are an AU candidate applying in AU region you will be considered as a local candidate in AU region and non-local candidate in SUV area . In that case your cut off at AU region will be less and you will get a priority compared to candidates who are from SVU region and applying in AU region.
Hope this answers your query.
Dear Aspirant,
The number of mbbs seats in Andhra Pradesh is just above 5000( including government and private Medical college seats).
There are 13 government medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh comprising a total number of seats of 2410. The remaining are the seats available in Private Medical colleges. Every state provides admission to students both from their own state as well as from other state. Of the total number of seats, 85% of the seats is reserved for State Quota students and the remaining 15% of the seats is reserved for All India Quota students.
As you belong to Telangana state, you can only apply for the All India Quota seats and need to compete against students of other states as well. The norm in this regard is that the students who have secured a better rank in NEET shall be given preference for admission.
As both Andhra University and Sri Padmavathi Medical College for Women are Universities belonging to the state of Andhra Pradesh, you can only apply for their ALL INDIA QUOTA seats. They shall give priority to only those candidates who have scored a better rank as they will be given the first preference.
So I hope you understand the distribution of Medical seats and the Dynamics of the situation you are in right now. Unless you have a domicile certificate for Andhra Pradesh, you can only apply for the All India Quota seats which means more intense competition.
I hope you get admission in a good medical college. Good luck.
