Hello student ,

Some of the examples for affirmative actions in India are -

National Means cum merit Scholarship scheme - A Centrally Sponsored Scheme, first launched in 2008. It aims to encourage meritorious students to continue their education past class VIII, at least up to class 12th . Under the scheme, the qualifying students receive a sum of 6,000 annually. Thus, this provides them with better opportunities to pursue higher education.

Age Relaxation – Several National level examinations have increased the upper limit of age for appearing candidates, with the degree of relaxation varying in different categories. Furthermore, this is often coupled with relaxation in the number of attempts as well. This gives such candidates a bigger timescale to work upon themselves and, consequently, improves their chances of cracking such exams. Some of these examinations include civil services exam, and many other entrance exams .

Hope it will help you !

Hello Aspirant!

Some examples of affirmative action are Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/EWS in educational institutions, government jobs. Also, there are various provisions for religious and cultural minorities to set up their own institutions. for example, St Stephen's College has reserved 50% of its seats for Christians.

Reservation in India is a form of affirmative action designed to improve the well-being of backward marginalized un-represented indigenous communities as defined primarily by their caste i.e. Ethnicity . Reservation in India favors the marginalized sections of the population with almost 25% of Indian Citizens eligible for reservation benefits. % of all college admissions and government jobs are reserved but they can also compete for the remaining 40.5% unreserved quota as well. Before the year of 2019 only 0.7% of scholarships disbursed by the government were given on the basis of merit, with over 94% of the scholarships given on basis of Reservation instead.
