First you have to study MBBS from any medical college. The course is of 5.5 years. After that you have to do your specialization in General Surgery then you have to pursue go for super specialization in 'Cardiothoracic Surgery' after which you will become a cardiothoracic surgeon. Being a Cardiothoracic surgeon the above mentioned procedures will be your daily procedures.

Hi.

I will answer your question which i can deduce is : What are the steps to become an open heart and coronary artery bypass surgeon?

So to become a CARDIO-THORACIC Surgeon in INDIA:

  • One needs to have an MBBS Degree issued by a medical institute registered with Medical Council of India [5.5 yrs]
  • One needs to apply for M.S. in General Surgery [3 yrs]
  • One needs to obtain M.Ch in Cardio-thoracic Surgery [3 yrs]

Along with that, to become a working surgeon one needs to have 2 years of surgical experience and needs to register oneself with Medical Council of India OR State Medical Council.

Best of Luck.

Dear Rahul,

To be a heart surgent you first  have to eligible for MBBS seat from any medical college which is registered under Medical Council of INDIA. You must complete three-year degree of MCh in Cardiology after completing MS in General Surgery. To be a MD or MS a student needs 55 percentage of score and also have permanent registration with the Medical Council of India or a State Medical Council. They need to have two years of surgical experience. The Indian constitution has reserved seats for the physicians coming from a background of financial instability.
