What are the steps of becoming a neurologist after completion of mbbs? Please explain them in detail

Hi.

To pursue your career as a Neurologist you can consider follows steps:


  1. After completion of your four and half year of MBBS degree course and one year and six months, compulsory training one has to go for M.D(Medicine).
  2. After completing M.D. (Medicine) the aspiring candidates can enrol for DM (Neurology) - a 3 years courses - for specialization in the field of Neurology from some of the best institutes in India as given below:
    1. CMC Vellore - Christian Medical College
    2. St Johns Medical College, Bangalore
    3. AIIMS Delhi - All India Institute of Medical Sciences New
    4. IMS BHU - Institute of Medical Sciences Banaras Hindu University
  3. After completion of three years of D.M.(Neurology) course and getting the requisite registration from Medical Council of India, the budding Neurologist can get jobs in reputed Government and Private Hospitals like AIIMS etc. A neurologist with good entrepreneurial skill can also open their own Neuro Clinic and provide services to the patients.
