What are the topics subject wise that have the most weightage in NEET, as I should know which chapters to prioritise first while preparing.
NEET 2024: Cutoff (OBC, SC, ST & General Category)
NEET 2024 Admission Guidance: Personalised | Study Abroad
NEET 2025: Syllabus | Most Scoring concepts | NEET PYQ's (2015-24)
Based on the analysis of NEET 2017 question paper, here are some suggestions on important topics from each section (Physics, Chemistry and Biology):
Lets begin with the most important section of NEET which carries maximum marks.
Biology:
44 questions were asked from class XI and 46 questions from class XII syllabus. Important topics/chapters include:
Reproduction 11 questions
Genetics and Evolution 15 questions
Biology and Human Welfare 7 questions
Biotechnology 4 questions
Ecology 9 questions
Diversity in Living Organisms 11 questions
Structural Organization in Plants and Animals 7 questions
Cell Structure and Function 7 questions
Plant Physiology 6 questions
Human Physiology 13 questions
Physics:
The physics section in NEET 2017 paper consisted of 24 questions from class XI syllabus and 21 from class XII. The important chapters covered were:
Mechanics 19 questions
Thermodynamics and Kinetic Theory 5 questions
Electrodynamics 9 questions
Modern physics 7 questions
Optics and Wave Optics 5 questions
21 questions from class XI and 24 from class XII syllabus were asked in Chemistry. The important topics covered were:
Physical Chemistry 12 questions
Organic Chemistry 14 questions
Inorganic Chemistry 12 questions
General Chemistry 4 questions
Although if you want a sucess never be choosy but yes you can prepare wisely for some chapter's that are easy and Answerable.
For physics, i would say Kinematics,Dynamics ,mordern physics, are important chapters.
For chemistry ,organic and inorganic are most important and frm physical chemistry, atomic stucture ,chemical bonding and periodic table classification.
For biology, Genetics is the most important chapter and ecology too. All the best
PHYSICS=
Important topics which cover about 70 % , around 30 - 32 ques/ each year for last 10 years out of a total of 45 ques/year
Kinemetics
Rotational Motion
Gravitation
Thermal Physics
Wave Motion and Doppler's effect
Electrostatic
Current Electricity & Effect of Current
Magnetic Effect of Current and Magnetism
Ray optics and Optical Instruments
Modern Physics
Semiconductors and Digital Electronics
CHEMISTRY =
take good command on organic chemistry.
I would like to mention some of the chapters:-
Class 11: Equilibrium,thermodynamics,p-block,s-block elements,general organic chemistry.
Class 12 : solutions, electrochemistry,surface chemistry,chemical kinetics,S and P block elements,polymer,biomolecules,alcohol,phenols and ether,amines and haloalkane and haloarenes.
BIOLOGY = Pay attention to Princilples of Inheritance and variations.
Cell The Unit of LIfe.
Biological Classification.
Morphology of Flowering Plants.
Sexual Reproduction in Flowering Plants.
Basis of Biotechnology, and anatomy.
Genetic.
Ecology and ENVIRONMENT.
Hope it helps you.
