Biotechnology is a combination of two subjects- Biology and Technology. Broadly speaking, it brings together concepts of Biology and Engineering and aims at putting concepts of both these subjects together, in a bid to enrich our lives and make innovative developments. Biotechnology is a rapidly developing sector. Advancements are being made at good pace in this sector. Big firms are pouring in big money into it and new business opportunities are developing in this sector. These things have led to huge increase in job openings in this sector. In short, Biotechnology graduates are in huge demand these days.

After BSC Biotechnology, one may go for MSC Biotechnology, the Masters course. MSC course will take two years to complete.

M. Sc.:

The field of biotechnology uses living organisms to generate controlled processes or even final products. Who pursuing this degree learn about a wide range of topics. On the biological side, focuses may include genetics, microbiology, cellular biology, and biochemistry. On the design and engineering side, students may learn about subjects such as process design and genetic engineering. Some programs also allow students to focus on a subdiscipline, such as the role of bioengineering and bioscience in healthcare or food production.

This degree program prepares students for biotechnology careers by encompassing a broad range of subjects that many degree programs do not. Besides providing students with necessary knowledge, the degree coursework fosters problem solving and critical thinking skills that prepare students to take on various design and engineering challenges.

Hi preeti

1. Research and Development

If you want to do research, create and improve what is useful for our society, you can do it. If you have a doctoral degree in India or abroad, you will receive the status of a scientist from an excellent research institution.

2. Industries

You can not only go for Biotech industry, but also in other pharma, food, agriculture, marketing ,dairy,so on.

Since it is broad subject, wherever we want to go, we can go. But we can get moderate package, not high.

B.tech Graduates can't expect more without any experience in industry.

3.Medical coding

There are huge companies throughout India doing medical coding work. it is very easy to get a job in medical coding sector once you completed graduation

4.MBA

Thank you::)

With a degree in biotechnology,the opportunities for a career are many but it also depends on which specialisation you move towards.The opportunities in biotechnology seems to be better with more advanced degrees . But,all in all ,biotechnology is a much needed specialisation for developing latest solutions to cater to medical care and agricultural sector. Career options after a degree in biotechnology are:Forensic Science: A popular field for Biotechnology is in the field of forensic science. A master degree in forensic science after biotechnology is necessary to find a career in forensic science. Many universities offer a master of science degree in Forensic science and after which one can be employed as a forensic scientist / forensic experts in many government institutions such as Criminal Bureaus of Investigation (CBI),Police Departments,detective agency, medical hospital etc.Clinical Reasearcher : Many drug companies require clinical trials on human beings before they are released to the market and this is where clinical researchers come into play checking out the guidelines and the drugs are tested through phases. After a degree in Biotechnology, one can do masters in clinical research to pursue a career in this field. With the rise in medical trials for drugs that are being developed and tested in India,demand for clinical researchers are on the rise.Biomedical engineering: it is the field where the concepts of Engineering are applied to the field of biology and medical field to find solutions for healthcare. It is one of the most important use of biotechnology and has been classified into many ways according to the way in which the engineering is applied to healthcare. It is also used for development in rehabilitation of disabled individuals and similar cases. In such case it is called rehabilitation engineering .Another use is in the development of medical devices for curing or prevention of health issues such as pacemakers, artificial organs,etc. To pursue biomedical engineering, one must go for an M.Sc degree in biomedical engineering. But it would also be wise to go abroad for higher studies inorder to pursue this field as it has more opportunities in other countries. Bioinformatics: It is a field that combine combines computer science,engineering, mathematics and statistics to develop software tools to interpret biological data. It analyses the data and information and uses it to understand the mutations and changes in our human biology. Jobs such as Research scientists , science technician, medical coding are some of the common careers in this field. Medical coding is also one of most on demand jobs for bioinformatics graduates.There are more other options where one can make a career after a degree in biotechnology but the main thing is to recognise your interests and strengths and develop skills and then specialise in your field of interest which will give you an edge in landing your dream career.
