National Law Universities are premier government run law institutes which is often approved by BCI as well as UGC. NLUs have built a brand over the years and the tag often helps one in the future. While the higher NLUs are very well reputed, have the best facilities and infrastructure, the lower NLUs are still in the nascent stage and are thus struggling. However, considering the past it can be said that NLUs grow at a faster rate. Apart from being cheap in their fee structure (as compared to other private law universities), many a times some corporate private organisations give a higher edge to students from National Law Universities.

In order to secure a seat in a NLU via CLAT, you will have to score the basic minimum of the cut-off which is sparingly different every year (depends upon the cut-off), different for every NLU, also different for every category. However, in the 200 mark paper, it is always good if you keep your score above a basic 130-135. But this is not a standard rule, it changes every year.
