What can I do after BSC Zoology?

In the present scenario of global warming, conserving the wildlife is a vital job that mankind needs to pay attention to. This is precisely what a wildlife biologist aim at. Conservation of wild life and its propagation are main concerns of wildlife biologist. They study the process of conservation by conducting research on various animals species including birds, reptiles, mammals etc. especially those which are close to extinction. The study is conducted on various conditions, behavior, habitat etc. with primary focus on their conservation and protection.

As you are interested, I presume that you would have the right aptitude as a Zoologist / wildlife biologist. who will be exposed to various kinds of situations, conditions and terrain. It would require tremendous will power and passion to work in the difficult field. There are numerous opportunities for Zoologist / wildlife biologists like:



1. You could join organizations to pursue career in community development like



  • Regional Resource Centers of Ministry of Environment and Forest


  • Wildlife Protection Society of India


  • Dr. Salim Ali School of Ecology


  • Indian Tiger Welfare Society


  • Wildlife Trust of India


  • Central Zoo Authority (CZA)


  • Zoo Outreach Organization


  • Wildlife Information Liaison Development


  • Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS)


  • Center for Science and Environment (CSE)


Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the environment (ATREE) etc. Community development organizations are right places to apply theoretical knowledge in real life settings.







2. Opt for Indian Forest Services (IFoS) exam conducted by Union Public Services Commission (UPSC). A candidate who has completed graduation, is below 30 years in case of candidate belonging to the general category take up these exams. 3. You could pursue advance degree and research work in wildlife biology or ecological sciences from institutes like

4. You may also work as a freelance consultant for various research and development organizations.







5. You can also work as an entrepreneur by opening your own Centre for research and development of wildlife.
