Hello ,

There are ample amount of job opportunities for the students after completing there M.Sc from Physics . As some of them which I wanna highlight for your betterment are as follows :

1. You can apply for various government jobs were the minimum requirement is of graduation with your interest of work .

2. You can apply for research organisations and laboratories like you can work for DRDO , VSSC , ISRO , etc and many more .

3. You can apply for various government as well as private sector enterprise based on your compatibility to work with either of them.

Further if you are looking for jobs specifically rather than job opportunities then of course there are various fields like some of them are listed below :

1. Professor

2. Radiolist

3. Assistant Scientist

4. Senior/Consulting Physicists

5. Teacher

6. Technician

7. Researchers

Apart from this , you can look for employment in private sector then there are many private research institutions and laboratories also you can apply for as a Professor or as a Teacher in private sector .

Thank you .

Physics graduates have a wide horizon in front of them and can get a wide variety of jobs in both public and private sector. You can find opportunities in the governmental organisation such as ISRO,DRDO,SSPL etc. Below are some of the fields, you can pursue:-

  • After 2 years of M.Sc you can pursue your carrier as a teacher in government school as a junior school teacher where your initial salary would be around 35-40k. Whereas, if you are teaching an UG course/University Teacher you need to pass UGC-CSIR NET (National Eligibility Test) and then your starting salary would be around 50k.
  • After 2 years of M.Sc you can pursue your carrier as a physicist or as a scientist which is going to be quite hectic as you would have to study for some more years and crack National Exams such as CSIR UGC NET JRF or GATE or JEST or each Univ/Inst’s own exam. PhD in India takes 6 to 7 years (places like IISc and subjects like Theoretical Physics) usually. Experimental Physis might take close to 6 years. The salary would depend upon your work but it would be around 75k at initial.
  • As a researcher or a research associate you would around 25k pm plus HRA.
  • You can also get jobs as lab supervisor, technician or as a consulting physicist.
  • You can also get jobs in Energy Plants, Automobile Industry.

I hope this answers your query.
