What can we do when an institute says they will not let me part of the placement process?
First of all nobody can deny the right to sit for placements unless they have certain specified rules and there are several companies that need students of certain caliber and so the system works on that basis. So, some students do not fit into the kind of requirement of the company that comes for placement then obviously they cannot say that the institution is preventing them. So these are the things which are put on the notice board, they are told upfront and most of the institutions do that. Coming back to placements data, we have to see that placement is a function of several parameters and we really need to see all those parameters. First of all find out how many students were actually eligible for the placements. See, a student who has back papers, who has not cleared the entire semester then obviously he cannot get into the placement mode. So therefore for every given institution we need to really find out these figures and normally where students have a higher rate of passing and clearing out which normally means the best students there the placements are also high, the number of companies which visit the institution is also pretty large and that's how the story goes. But if someone says that I will not allow you to sit for placements because you are not going to be selected and my numbers will get down then it's a bad practice and it's not a practice which should be encouraged.
