IES stands for Indian Engineering Services. This is a part of Civil Services to carry out the technical and managerial functions of the Government of India. The eligibility depends on the position applying for. But initially the Candidate is selected as an Assistant Executive Engineer or at an Assistant Director Level. After putting a work experience of 3-4 years, the Candidate will be promoted to Director or Executive Engineer. Once the Candidate puts up 13 years of Experience, he/she will be promoted to the position of Chief Engineer Level 2 or Joint General Manager. The same Candidate, after an experience of 20 years will be promoted to the position of Chief Engineer or Additional General Manager. After putting 30 years of experience, he/she will become a Senior General Manager and the final promotion is after 34 years of experience to the position of a Managing Director or Chairperson of the Govt.
