the species which have great influence on the community characterstics realtive to their low abundance or biomass are called key stone species.The activities of key stone species determine the structure of community.

example-lion in forest,kangroo rat in desert

Other kinds of keystone species are those, such as coral or beavers, that significantly alter the habitat around them and thus affect large numbers of other organisms.
