What does a data scientist do. What qualifications do I need to become a data scientist. Is it okay if I don't engineering and computer science but just proceed with maths to become a data scientist?

Yes, you can become a data scientist with a strong background in Mathematics and Statistics . However, you will need to learn programming (Python, R, SQL) and machine learning to work effectively with data.
To become a data scientist , you usually need a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or Statistics . Many data scientists also have a master's or Ph.D.
