What does automation and robotics means?
Hello aspirant!!
Automation:
It is the process of physical machines, computer software and technology to perform tasks that are usually done by humans. There are two types of automation they are software automation and industrial automation.
Industrial automation is all about controlling the physical processes. It may involve using physical machines and control systems to automate tasks within an industrial process. Example like fully automation factory.
Most of the information on automation that you find on online is about software automation. This involves using software to complete tasks which humans usually do when they are using computer programs.
Robotics:
It is the process of designing, creating and using robots to perform a certain task.
To make it a more complex some robots are autonomous (they operate without human directly controlling them in a real time) but they are not used in automation. For example a toy line following robot can autonomously follow aline painted on the ground. However it is not automation, because it's not performing any specific task. Is, the instead line following robot transporting medicines around a hospital, then it would be automation.
Hope this answer may help you to find difference between the two of them.
Robotic automation can be defined as automation of industrial and clerical processes using robots, of various appearances. Robotics is the interdisciplinary branch of engineering and science that includes mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science and deals with the design, construction, operation, and use of robots majorily. On the other hand, Automation refers to the use of various control systems for operating equipment such as machinery, processes in factories, steering and stabilization of ships, aircraft and other applications. These are official definations to understand it better.
