hello shraddha,
there are both nearly equal.
Computer Science Engineering (CSE) is a technical degree which deals with understanding the concepts of computation along with its applications. You got to understand how algorithms, structures, expressions etc. work to represent, process, store and express electronic information. It’s way more deep than IT because you’re actually understanding and doing the core stuffs related to computers here. You make algorithms, you make programs, you learn to debug data and a lot more fun stuff. The syllabus is deep here.
Information Technology (IT) deals with the application part of computer programs. You learn the different application of different computer programs in different areas of business or life to get the work done (or ease it). In short, you actually find the implementations of programs built by the folks in CSE Dept. The syllabus lacks the technical topics of CSE here.
thank you.
