Hello Annada,

Reservation in India is for facilitating an individual in Education and Jobs. Scheduled Castes(SC), Scheduled Tribes(ST) and Other Backward Classes(OBC) are the main beneficiaries of reservation.

Reservation % as per Government of India is:

Scheduled Castes - 15%

Scheduled Tribes - 7.5%

Other Backward Classes - 27%

Therefore, out of total seats in any exam, 49.5% seats will be reserved for the selection of SC, ST and OBC candidates and the remaining 50.5% seats are for the Unreserved candidates i.e. General Class.

The reservation % also varies from state to state based on local demographics. For example in North-Eastern states like Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Mizoram, reservation for Scheduled Tribes in State Government jobs is 80%.

Good Luck!
