No, I do not think that would be done . Although it is a NIT that does not mean that it would function any different from the other institutes. If your performance is low then you need to improve them by studying and if you do not qualify then you have to reappear. And of course if you do not have the minimum requirement then they might restrict you from placements but I do not think anything is done beyond that. It depends on you that how you will improve yourself.
