Dear Swapnil Srivastava,
MAT is a popular MBA entrance test for admission into many reputed institutes in the country. Every year, top MBA colleges use MAT scores to shortlist the candidates for Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds and for the final selection. MAT is conducted by AIMA four times in a year in the Months of February, May, September and December. Most of the institutes use MAT scores of December and February for admitting candidates.
It is seen that the cutoff for MAT exam remains similar to that of the previous year. While the cutoff for each college varies, some may consider sectional cutoff marks for further selection rounds- Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
The following table indicates the expected institute-wise MAT cut off 2019. These have been considered on the basis of previous year cutoffs, the difficulty level of the test, number of candidates and number of seats in an Institute
Different colleges have different criteria for selecting candidates. Generally, it includes the MAT score, candidate's academic record, work experience in months (if any), quality of work experience, etc. The next step after clearing the test cut offs is the Group Discussion and Personal Interview round. This process also varies from institute to institute. Some institutes have GDs based on current or abstract topics while others have an essay-writing round as well. Also, you need to be well prepared for the Personal Interview as many of your qualities, mainly: confidence, self awareness, communication skills and leadership skills are being evaluated in an interview.
