Hello, To clarify, ABC stands for Academic Bank of Credit, which is an initiative from the Ministry of Education, Govt of India. This allows the students to utilise their academic credits in case they change their college/ university.
To explain this in Layman's terms, suppose a student takes admission in a UG programme after clearing CUET UG exam . Now, after studying for a year or two, he/she decides to change their college. In this case, the student can carry their credit which they have earned at their first college and use this while taking admission in the next institution. This digital credit system is not only helpful in terms of carrying your credits, but also this helps in student verification.
After registering at abc.gov.in (http://abc.gov.in/) , students will be allotted a 12 digit APAAR/ ABC ID that they can use at the time of admission at around 1855 institutions across India. Hope that helps. Please comment down if you have any more queries.
Dear Aspirant !!
Hope you are doing good !
The APAAR/ABC ID acts as a link to DigiLocker, an online repository, where students securely store essential documents like exam results . Linked to the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) via the APAAR/ABC ID, it receives academic credits from institutions through the National Academic Depository.
Hope it helps you ;
Thanking you !
