what is acid rain describe it effect
Hi Vinod,
Acid rain occurred by the chemical reaction which begins when different harmful chemicals such as sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides are released into the air. These subjstances rise very high into atmosphere and get mixed with the droplets, and react with water, oxygen and other checmicals by formic acidic pollutants. And when rain occurs, it caries these polltants in itself, so known as acidic rain. One of the most easily visible effect of acidic rain is on the Taj Mahal, the color of its marble ha sbeen changed to yellowish from white due to the acid rain. As acid rain contains many harmful chemicals so its affects forests, freshwater, decreases fertility of soil, kills insects and aquatic life forms, fades the paint color, causes corrossion of different metals or statues. It also affects human health.
Thankyou!
Hello aspirant,
Acid rain describes a form of precipitation that contains high levels of nitric and sulfuric acids. It can also occur in the form of snow, fog, and tiny bits of dry material that settle to Earth. Normal rain is slightly acidic, with a pH of 5.6, while acid rain has ph between 4.2-4.5.the effects of acid rain could be many like climate change,it has major polutants which are harmful to people on earth.these pollutants damage both the environment and health of people.it also causes some serious problems to aquatic life.few of them can tolerate but many aquatic life die which eventually causes a disturbance in food chain.it also spoils the soil of the forest which contains essential nutrients, hence no water to plants and trees so it causes problems to forests as well.hence it causes some serious problems .
Hope this helps,
Thankyou.
