Most competitive exams these days give result in terms of percentile. This will make the ranking procedure easy.
Actual score is the raw score that the candidate scores in the exam.
And percentile in its real sense, depicts the percentage of candidates that the candidate surpassed with his/her performance.
Example: if you answer 2 questions correctly in JEE Main, with +4 for correct answer, your actual score is 8.
And out of 100 people, if 80 students have scored less than or equal to you, then your percentile is 80.
