Kinetic energy is the energy associated with the motion of a body. Classically, the kinetic energy is m(v^2)/2. The average kinetic energy is the just the average of the kinetic energy. If you are referring to a gas or other multi-body/multi-particle system it is the average of the kinetic energy of all the particles.
