Let me first clear a few fleeting misconceptions:
1.) Getting into an IIM means life is set
2.) A lucrative job with a handsome package awaits at the door of an IIM
3.) A company that suits my profile will be offered
Though, a few do achieve the above but they are not necessarily their dreams.
Now a few realities :
1.) Average of the top 5 IIMs is 16.76 lpa above and with the increase in rank, average increases. For the newer and baby IIMs it is in the range  of 10 lpa to 12 lpa.
2.) For any B-school, check its median not average. It is the middle most package between the highest and the Lowest. For the top B-schools it is 15 lpa and above. Not more than 19lpa.
3.) Once you enter a B-school, you not just aspire to get a high package, but face the reality of life and wish to follow your passion.
4.) Once into an IIM, though your beginning may not be so good or as expected by you in terms of company and package but your incremental will be good and you have the option of switching to better companies too.
Thus, don't worry about what you will get initially, rather work on your self grooming and personality development because that is what you are going to carry forever.

The salary will depend upon the IIM you get into . The placements are different for different IIMs. The newer iims have lesser placements as of now . You can get the placements records of different IIMs on their websites.

It depends upon the company that you are seeking...
In 2011, the average salary received by the one-year batch at IIM-Calcutta was Rs 19.66 lakh, and Rs20 lakhat IIM-Bangalore. The placement of the one-year full-time MBA graduates at IIMs is better than that of those graduating other one-year full-time MBAs in India.
