Hi,

B.E stands for Bachelor of Engineering while B.Tech stands for Bachelor of Technology. If we talk about the difference between B.E and B.Tech then there is not much difference between both the degrees. Both the degrees are considered equivalent by all the colleges and universities in India. You will always see that the educational requirements are always as B.E/B.Tech.

The only difference between both the degrees is that B.E covers more theoretical knowledge while B.Tech focuses on Technology and its practical implementation.

So, you can choose any degree as per your choice.

Check the list of Engineering Colleges offering B.E/B.Tech Courses .

Hey Akash Sharma,

Engineering is a "science", dealing more with theoretical concepts & principles; technology deals more with the application of these theories for practical purposes. But, both B.E. & B.Tech courses offered by various engineering colleges/ institutes, have similar curriculum more or less. Both degrees are valued equally by prospective employers. What matters more is the reputation of the engineering college from where you obtain your B.E/ B.Tech degree.

B.Tech is offered by government institutes and B.E. is offered by private institutes.

There is absolutely no truth in this. Institutes like Netaji Subash Institute of Technology, University of Mumbai (Department of Chemical Technology) which are government institutes offer a BE degree and there are many private institutes that offer a B.Tech degree

No industrial training in BE or B.Tech

In both, BE and B.Tech, industrial training is compulsory after semester 6.

B.Tech or BE is valued more than the other

All the best!

The Bachelor of Engineering, abbreviated as B.E is an undergraduate academic degree awarded to a student after four to five years of studying engineering at an accredited university. In the UK, a B.Eng degree will be accredited by one of the Engineering Council's professional engineering institutions as suitable for registration as a incorporated engineer or chartered engineer.

B.Tech course is somewhat more practically intensive than the BE course which is more theoretical. The difference (which is quite minor) between the two degrees can be understood from their names itself, Engineering Vs. Technology.

BE or B Eng is a Bachelor degree for Engineering (Engineer) B Tech is for Bachelor of Technology (Technician) B Eng which generally means more theory than a BTech degree.

B.E. is considered a knowledge oriented course where more emphasis is given on the theoretical part of the curriculum whereas B. Tech is skill oriented which gives more emphasis on practicals.

Industrial visits and internship might be essential part of the curriculum whereas Industrial visits and internships are necessary for B. Tech courses.

Hope this helps!!!
