Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and Post Graduation Diploma in Management (PGDM) are the post graduation courses in the management domain.

As per the law in India only a University or any college which is affiliated to University can graduate their students with MBA Degree. So autonomous institutions like IIM's, XLRI, etc could not offer MBA degree. So, they offer Diploma in Management.

When it comes to colleges which can offer diploma they have more autonomy to update the syllabus as per the current trends in the industry. Pedagogies would be dynamic which are related to the current industry trend. Whereas in the colleges which provide MBA degree the subjects which must be taught are fixed from years.

When it comes to the best among MBA and PGDM, they are almost on similar lines. Any difference is not shown while recruiting people for managerial roles from a pool of B-Schools which offer MBA degree and Post Graduation Diploma. But when it comes to higher education i.e fellow/doctoral programs outside India people with MBA degree will gain few more points in the selection criteria for doctoral programs when compared with their counterparts who hold a diploma in Management.

So it entirely depends on the individual to chose MBA degree or Diploma in Management, which depends on their further career options of pursuing higher education (research oriented) or turning into an entrepreneur, working for an organization, etc.
