hello aspirant,

The answer completely depends upon the interested area of yours.

Like if u r interested in core courses then u should opt for MTech and higher studies in it further.

Else,if u look to explore a lot in other streams or also of ur stream and can afford the heavy expenses, definitely go for MS from foreign universities.

If u like courses related to economics and see yourself as HR manager, accounts manager, etc down the line then opt for MBA.

Hope this helps.

Dear shivaay

The best option for you after Btech is a very subjective thing and depends upon what you want to achieve in life. All these options are good enough.

If you wish to pursue masters in your core field or join any PSU etc then prepare for GATE and do Mtech.

If your interest is getting it from abroad then go for MS. Usually GRE is required for US universities and Ilets for canada.

If you wish to stay in country and pursue management course then go for MBA.

All three offers different prospects

Basically whatever suits you is the best.

MBA is about holistic development of an individual while other courses are specializations in a certain field.

So it totally depends on what you want to pursue and how you want to go further in your life.

Hello,

Well For PG every college has a separate examination.
Like if you wanna do MBA you need to appear for CAT, NMAT, GMAT
If for MTech you need to appear for GATE.
If MS you need TOEFL and GRE

All the streams are equally good. It all boils down to your preference and your choice and your interest.

But if asked to put in an order of demand in the market globally

1. MS

2. MBA

3. MTech

Hi Shivaay,

It depends on your interest. Whichever career you chose, you have to be in that fiels for most of your time. So it is most important to chose the ield in which you are interested in. Think about your stengths and wekaness, likes, dislikes and then chose the field which you think it will best suits you.

If you want to continue in same filed as B.Tech (a bit technical) or if you want to be a lecturer then you can go for M.Tech, but if yu want to go in management field then select MBA or MS. In MBA also, it again depends on your interest that which specialsiation you chose.

So I would suggest you to spend some time in understanding yourself before chosing any field.

All the Best

Hello Shivaay,

I believe you should not take guidance from anyone for this. I suggest you to take this decision yourself. Spend some time with yourself, think about you likes-dislikes, interests, long-term goals, etc. and then come up with a decision.

The best possible advice that I can give is do not get influenced by what others are doing, do what you feel is appropriate for you.

Good Luck.

Hello Shivaay,

M.Tech definitely has higher edge than B.Tech but make sure you are doing it from recognised university in abroad.

Job opportunities in M.tech are more towards technical domain.

MBA gives you an managerial position and it depends on College from where you do and what's the salary they offer.

It totally depends on candidate interest, if you wish to stick to your domain do M.Tech and if want to lean towards Management domain , MBA is better.

MS is Master in Science is also an aspect like M.tech leaning towards technical domain.

Its your call whether to go to Technical or Management domain and choose accordingly.

Hope it clears your doubts. All the best

Hey Shivaay!

This depends upon your future work preference and goals. For instance - if you want to work in MNC, then go for Mtech or MS. Or, wish to pursue PhD. Usually, Mtech in abroad is usually called as MS. So, it's not different. Whereas, if you want to earn a good package and corporate life attracts you. Then, MBA is your call.

Best wishes for your future.

Hello Shivaay

I would advise you to go for MBA because the course itself is updated with all the topics you would be requiring to be an industry fit. Nowadays inclination is towards data analysis so the course is also going in the same direction. You can get knowledge of big data analysis using R language, python and Tableau.

But to go ahead with this you should be having zeal and passion for the decision you made.

MBA is an overall development course whereas MS and Mtech is specific in nature and more towards IT. But nowadays demand for MS is increasing and so the cost as well. Again it depends on your capability to fund for your education though you can avail loan easily. So do self introspection and choose your goal.

Good luck for your career ahead.

Thanks

Hi Shivaay,

This is quite a common question everone will have in their under graduation. I am an ECE engineer and even I was confused of what to no next.I depends on your long term interests. You must what opportunities these fields will open up to and then decide. For example say your interest lies in coding, circuit design , robotics etc then you might want to pursue M.tech or MS for landing up in engineer jobs. On the other hand if you like management roles like brand manager , marketing manager ,etc then you can go for MBA. I know it is a tough choice but I suggest you to go with your passion instead of considering other variables like package , ROI , etc. I took up MBA because I was convinced I fit in management roles. Take your time , explore your interests and then decide instead of jumping into conclusions. All the best !

Teja Reddy 16th Oct, 2018

What you want do after B.Tech depends on your interest. As for the roles, both MBA and M.Tech/ MS lead to better roles in companies. But, choosing one depends on your interest and what you like to do. If you want to do management roles, go for MBA. Otherwise, go for M.Tech/ MS for technical roles

If you are interested in Higher Studies or research in same stream then you may go for M.Tech. you should have 55 % in B. Tech/BE and a valid score of GATE. I am enlisting a few good colleges for Mtech : IIT Roorkee, IIT Guwahati, DTU, IIT Varanasi, IIT Dhanbad, NIT Surathkal,NIT Tiruchirappalli, NIT Warangal, NIT Calicut, , Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar ,Punjab, College of Engineering, Anna University,DTU,VIT, BITS, IIIT Hyderabad, IIEST Howrah, College of Engineering Pune, Jadavpur University, IIIT Allahabad,Anna University

If you are not interested in learning technology any more , only then you should pursue MBA . You should have cleared any one entrance test ( such as CAT/MAT/XAT/NMAT/CMAT/GMAT/NEST ) and should also have min of 45% to 55% in your bachelors .you can do MBA in any specializations of your interest. Some Good Colleges are: IIMs , XLRI

Goa Institute of Management

Lovely Professional University-Punjab

K.J. Somaiya Institute Mumbai

D.Y. Patil University

Hi Shivaay,

Well, all the 3 options are very different yet the best options one has. And every option is best in its own way. If you are interested in the technical field and want to study in India itself, MTech is your choice,

For MTech, you need to appear for GATE, and a respectable score of 55+ in GATE is required to get into a good college.

If you want to study in Other countries than MS is a option. For MS the investment is too high, around 50 lakh rupees for 2 years, but ROI is good. Also, do not choose for the IT sector in MS as the demand is not as high as of now.

And if you want to leave the technical field than MBA is your choice. You have two choices for MBA in India or abroad. To do MBA in India you can give CAT, SNAP, XAT, CMAt, MAT etc, and for MBA abroad you can give GMAT.

All the best
