What is bio technology and the best collages in coimbatore
Answer (1)
Hii!!
On reading your question, i understood that you need basic concept and complete details about Biotechnology.
So lets start with what it basically is.
Biotechnology-
Itis the branch of biology that involves living systems and organisms to develop or make products, or any technological application that uses biological systems, living organisms,to make or modify products or processes for specific use.
Biotechnology is usedin agriculture, food production, and medicine. biotechnology has expanded to include new and diverse sciencessuch as genomics, recombinant genetechniques, applied immunology, and development of pharmaceuticaltherapies and diagnostic tests.
It teaches about the procedures for modifying living organisms , going back to domesticationof animals, cultivation of the plants, and improvements to these through breeding processes involving artificial selectionand hybridization. In todays time it alsoincludes genetic engineering, celland tissue culturetechnologies.
Now lets come to the Courses one can study in this field.
Courses in Biotechnology-
B.E in Biotechnology(Bachelors of Engineering in Biotechnology )
B.Tech in biotechnology (Bachelors of Technology in Biotechnology)
BSc in Biotechnology(Bachelors of Science in Biotechnology)
MTech in biotechnology(Masters of Technology in Biotechnology)
MSc in Biotechnology(Masters of Science in Biotechnology)
M.E in biotechnology(Masters of Engineering in Biotechnology)
PhD in Biotechnology
In general, After class 12thstudents prefer to go for BSc Biotechnology rather than other bachelors courses So i will discuss Bsc Biotechnology in detail. Incase you wish to know about the other bachelors courses please inform me about it then.
BSc. In Biotechnology-
This is a 3 year undergraduate program in biotechnology. It involves applied biology and bio-processes in engineering. The course is divided into 6 semesters of 6 months each.
ELIGIBILITY- The candidate must have qualified class 12thexamination with 55% minimum marks and subjects preferred will be Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Some colleges do require maths as a compulsory subject.
ADMISSION PROCEDURE- The admission is generally given on the basis of marks obtained in class 12thi.e direct admission. But some universities do prefer to conduct their own entrance examination for admissions.
FUTURE SCOPE- On completion of the course you will become a biotechnologist. But yes remember this is a kind of a course which will require higher studies for better job opportunities.
You can get jobs in areas like Educational Institutes, Research Labs., Bio Industry etc. You can be appointed on the post of a Research Associate, Environmental Specialist, Medical Representative, Research scientist, Quality Control Officier etc.

Very very thank you sir
Hii sir what is B.E in biotech
This is one of the most asked question.
The main difference between BE and BTech is that BE is data oriented, you know mostly emphasis will be laid on the theoretical part in the whole course.
However in Case of Btech the course is mostly skill oriented. As per my experience the course for a student is more upto date in Btech.
Rest the choice is yours. Both are equally good.
Hope this clears the confusion!
Thanks!

BE in Biotech is an undegraduate Engineering course. The duration is 4 years. Syllabus would be similar to BSc but would include some Skill oriented parts also.It depends on different colleges whether they provide BE in Biotech course or not. After completion of BE Biotech course you will become a Biotechnological Engineer or simple biotechnoligist but you will add Er prefix in your Name which is not possible with BSc Biotech.Eligibility for this course will be qualifying class 12th with minimum 55% with subjects Chemistry, Maths And biology all three being compulsory subjects.Admission is generally given on the basis of Entrance exam and in some colleges JEE is also required.I hope you this was helpful in clearing your doubt
