What is correct process of MBA admission for abroad through GMAT exam and when it will held....??
Hi Amol,
The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a computer-adaptive test which assesses a person’s analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal and reading skills in standard written English. This test is taken in preparation for being admitted into a graduate management program, such as MBA and Masters in Finance related courses.
The GMAT exam is a computer adaptive test and not a computer based test, which means that the candidate will get one question at a time and depending on the accuracy of the previous answer, the difficulty level of the next question will be ascertained. The average scores required for universities abroad varies; top tier universities require at least 710, while middle tier universities accept 600.
For Executive MBA, GMAC has recently introduced a new Mini GMAT called Executive Assessment exam . This exam is specially designed for EMBA applicants and is of considerably shorter duration. It is meant to test analytical and logical thinking of the applicant, which is more suited for the Executive MBA course.
Latest Update
The Graduate Management Admission Council has shortened the GMAT exam by 30 minutes which will be effective from 16 April, 2018. The new exam will be of 3 hours and 30 minutes including test instructions and breaks. The Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative sections are shortened by 13 and 10 minutes respectively. The Integrated Reasoning and Analytical Writing Assessment along with the Score Preview and the optional break time will remain same. These changes will not have any impact scoring in the shortened Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative sections as only the unscored items have been removed by the GMAC.
Thanks
Hello Amol
First and foremost it is important that you have already selected the colleges where you want to apply for your MBA. The most popular destination for most of the MBA aspirants is the US. However, with the current mood in the country, there are other reputed colleges in other countries as well such as London Business School, Oxford, Cambridge in England; closer to home there is INSEAD (Singapore). Most of the top universities in the world accept GMAT score, so make sure that you have a good GMAT score (GMAT Score is valid for five years).
When to give the exam?
You can give GMAT five times in one year, with a minimum time period of 16 days between two attempts. However, remember that taking GMAT is an expensive affair (Cost of GMAT exam is 250$ or Rs17, 000). Also, we suggest that you take the exam at least one year before your MBA programme is scheduled to begin. You also need to give yourself enough time to prepare for it. So choose the exam date judicially.
You also need to plan well in advance and be mindful of the application deadline of various MBA colleges for International students. Certain MBA colleges such as London Business School give the option of choosing the duration (15 months, 18 months and 21 months) of the MBA programme. Most of the MBA sessions begin sometime in August or September.
Eligibility
Before applying for an MBA a candidate should atleast have a minimum of 16 years of education.
The process
If the candidate has been shortlisted(based on previous academic records and GMAT score) by the institute, he/she will be invited for an interview to the university. You will need to submit various documents such as SOPs and recommendation letters, resume etc. You will also be required to submit an essay, which are around 400 words, depending on the requirement of the university. You might be given a topic or the university will give some topics to choose from for writing the essay.
Based on your assessment, you will get your offer letter by April, for the September intake.
Remember
While evaluating candidates, international MBA institutes also take into consideration the work experience of the candidate. So make sure that you have relevant work experience. Top MBA institutes accept score which is above 700, while mediocre institutes accept scores anything from 600. So if you want to get into the top B-school, that you have at least crossed the 700 marks threshold.
Hope this helps and all the best!
Hello Amol,
If you wanna study abroad the steps to be followed must be in a sequence,such as;
1.First search for the business schools abroad where you would like to study
2.Check the deadlines for the business courses. Usually they have more than one round of deadlines. The US usually recommend international students to apply in the first or second round itself so that they have enough time for VISA application.
3. Eligibility sould be checked. Most of the universities in USA require the applicant to have a minimum 16 years of education before applying for MBA.
4. GMAT or GRE should be undertaken. GMAT score is very essential for admission abroad,it is valid for 5 years. A person cannot appear for more than 5 GMAT exams within a 12 month period.
5. Most US univerities seek for work experience for entry into their MBA programmes.
6. Interview is one of the most important rounds for admission. These are conducted by invitation only. The Universities invites the students after evaluation of their GMAT or GRE scores.
7. After all this the offer letter if sent to the deserving candidate.
GMAT is administered throughout the year so there are no specific GMAT test dates . The test takers can choose any GMAT test date according to their preference.
I hope i have cleared all your doubts and hope it was helpful:)
All the best for your future.
Thank you.
