What is d placement scenario after Mtech in mechanical from medium ranked IIT's lyk IIT Hyderabad, guwahati etc..??
Hey Abhishek,
Placement is a possibility in only high-end IITs given the fact that the student is good, else, god knows what would happen.
For instance, take the case of IIT Delhi. The MTech placement record for mechanical was 69%. Heres the link:
https://www.tnp.iitd.ac.in/placement_stats.html
Now imagine what would have been the placement record for other low-end IITs.
Take the case of ISM Dhanbad (soon to be renamed as IIT Dhanbad). There's absolutely no placement for MTech grads.
Coming to NITs. Except for 4 NITs, the placement scenario is pathetic. Coming to good ones first.
I'll point out the good NITs and they are as follows:
1. NIT Trichy
2.NIT Warangal
3.NIT Surathkal
4.NIT Calicut
NIT Trichy has the best placement record among all NITs with 100% for thermal engineering to 78.6% for Manufacturing technology for Mechanical MTech Grads.
Similar is the scenario in Warangal and Surathkal.
Coming to moderately good NITs.
Take the case of NIT Rourkela. On one hand, you have all its 70 BTech mechanical students being placed in companies like HERO, Maruthi, BAJAJ, TATA STEEL, etc. And on the other the hand you have their MTech Mechanical Grads, where just 4 of them managed to get placements and that too in companies like LIC and TCS. I know its hard to believe. So here's the link:

Now imagine the case of low-end NITs like NIT Patna, Bhopal, Agartala, etc.
So make informed choices. Do extensive research and plan accordingly because Mtech needs the most precious 2 years of your life and that's gonna shape your future.
Hope I was able to help you. All the best.
