what is de_broglie wave? derive de_briglie wave eq.for a material particles.
hey there,
De Broglie wave-
It is said that matter has a dual nature of wave-particles. de Broglie waves, named after the discoverer Louis de Broglie, is the property of a material object that varies in time or space while behaving similar to waves. It is also called matter-waves. It holds great similarity to the dual nature of light which behaves as particle and wave, which has been proven experimentally.
De Broglie wave length:
The momentum of photon of frequency v is given by
v=hv/c = h/λ since c=vλ
The wavelength of a photon in terms of its momentum is λ = h/p ...... (1)
According to de Broglie, the above equation is completely a general one and this is applicable to material particles as well.
Therefore, for a particle of mass m travelling with speed v ,
the wavelength is given by
λ = h/mv = h/p ....... (2)
This wavelength of the matter waves is known as de Broglie wavelength. This equation relates the wave character (the wave length λ) and the particle character (the momentum p) through Planck’s constant
Hello
Hope you are doing good.
de_broglie wave equation can be stated as λ = h/mv , where λ is wavelength, h is Planck's constant, m is the mass of a particle, moving at a velocity v. And it is defined as a wavelength manifested in all the objects in quantum mechanics which determines the probability density of finding the object at a given point of the configuration space.
Good luck.
