Deemed university is an institution that has attained status of university in particular area of specialization recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) on recommendation of statutory council (for example Medical Council of India (MCI). Deemed university has autonomy, it designs its own syllabus, methods of teaching and curriculum. But such universities are more expensive than government or state universities because of their advanced infrastructure/facilities and autonomy.
