An Institution of Higher Education, other than universities, working at a very high standard in specific area of study, can be declared by the Central Government on the advice of the UGC, as an Institution ‘Deemed-to-be-university’ This DU will conduct it's own examinations and would award degrees of its own. The institution that is deemed to be a university. That means it is capable of having own syllabus, course duration, fee structure etc. It is capable to give degree on it's own name. Which has the all the features of an university but with limited courses offering.
