Hi,
I think it is just the competitive environment that makes all the difference and graduating from AIIMS does not alone guarantee success , 99% of the successful doctors in India are not from AIIMS , this does not mean AIIMS is bad, it just means that the individual is more important than the institute , if you are motivated enough to succeed, you will eventually succeed whether your from AIIMS or some insignificant private college in some rural area.
Hope this helps.
All the best.
AIIMS is an All India Institute for Medical Sciences whereas NEET is National eligibility cum entrance test. The AIIMS exam is for Admission to the 6 branches of AIIMS in India but NEET exam is for getting admission in private and government Medical colleges other than AIIMS and JIPMER.The
Batchmates- as you would guess, most of the people here are exceptionally intelligent (or exceptionally unique :P). This makes way for group discussions of a higher level. It's like everyone pulls each other upwards. One of my friends from a peripheral college once told me how everyone there discouraged him, and that he couldn't achieve excellence in such an environment.
Faculty - There are many excellent professors here. Authors of international books, leaders in research in their fields, advisors to international committees. Top notch !
Mindset - Imagine you are at a place where there is no choice but to be excel. Everyone says you are the best, so you believe them. In the process, you actually start believing in yourself.
Patients - You experience everything from textbook cases to rare diseases. AIIMS is a place where 10,000 patients flog the OPD’s daily! And thats only outpatient(excluding emergency and wards). An example is that one my batchmates was given penile cancer as a case in Medicine in our second year. That is quite a rare case.
Whereas the NEET exam tests our skills in only Physics, chemistry and Biology with 180 MCQ's.Many students compete with each other to get seat in AIIMS.Its a dream for every Medical Aspirant.Being with the education it also provides very good environment to practical work.
There is Pulse, the largest fest in a medical college in all of SouthEast Asia. Hostel timings are unrestricted. Sports facilities are very good.
hope this helps
wish you luck
