Difference between conversation and speech

Conversation is an interaction between two or more persons.

However,speech is differ from conversation because all participants cannot contribute alike and at the same time.

1.In conversation there is no fixed place and time but in speech events like lectures or meetings there have a prefixed places and time.

2.Conversation is reciprocal,each contributor has to contribute.otherwise,conversation may not be successful but  speech events differ from the conversation as they are not reciprocal,all participants cannot contribute more ,as they are all passive listeners.

3.In the case of conversation a immediate feedback is possible but in speech events there is no  interaction between people therefore, immediate feedback is not possible.

Different between conservation and spech events

• When two or more people talk in turn to each other then it is called conversation whereas a speech is one where a single person talks to a group of people who usually do not speak until the end of the speech .

• In speech , there is a clear distinction between the speaker and the audience i.e speaker usually stands in the front addressing the audience

• In speech formal language is used in conversation we often use slang etc
