Hello aspirant,
Mtech is btech with research work . In other words , you study majority subjects of btech in mtech , the subjects are more broader than btech . And secondly you have to do research work on your area of interest . Ms is pure research oriented and has very less subjects to study like in mtech. It is like a mini Phd . You have to mainly focus on your thesis work . Mtech is more common in india Ms is more common in usa and other countries
MTech is a 2-year course where you have to study 4 to 5 subjects each semester (for the first two-semester) then in the rest two-semester either you could go for an internship for one year or you could do projects under the prof. In case of MS, it is a 2.5 years(sometimes extended to 3 years as well) course where you have to study minimum 5 courses in your entire MS(you could take more courses or you can audit some of the courses after asking your guide only, this rule could be different for different IITs). So you can study 2 or 3 courses in each semester and start doing some research or literature survey on your research topics.
Hope this helps you
