What is difference between State Law University and National Law University??
Hello Kshitij,
As per UGC, “Universities are established either by the central government or by the state governments. The criteria are decided by the concerned government”. The National Law Universities are not considered central universities but since they are established by the respective states, they are known as state level law universities recognised by UGC.Also, unlike other central institutions like IITs which recieves it's funding from Central Government, the NLU's are established as part of state legislations, so, they rely on grants from the state governments and the grants received by different NLUs vary from state to state. This is the reason why fee charged by these law institutes are higher as they need to usually fund their expenses on their own. These are the major differences. Good Luck!
