what is drainage pattern different types of drainage pattern
Hi Amardeep,
It is a pattern characterised by out flowing rivers, away from a central point, analogous with the spokes of a wheel. It tends to develop on the flanks of a dome or a volcanic cone.
There are several types of Drainage patterns some of them are mentioned below:-
- Dendritic drainage pattern.
- Parallel drainage pattern.
- Trellis drainage pattern.
- Rectangular drainage pattern.
- Radial drainage pattern.
- Centripetal drainage pattern.
- Deranged drainage pattern.
- Annular drainage pattern.
Hope this will help, please feel free to ask if you have any further query.
Thank You.
Hello dear student,
In geomorphology, drainage systems, also known as river systems, are the patterns formed by the streams, rivers, and lakes in a particular drainage basin. They are governed by the topography of the land, whether a particular region is dominated by hard or soft rocks, and the gradient of the land. There are four Types of Drainage Patterns. Drainage patterns are classified on the basis of their form and texture such as:
- dendritic,
- deranged
- centripetal
- trellised.
I hope this was helpful
Thank you
