What is eca quota in du and what we have to do for it?
Hey Mradula,
In an attempt to have holistic admission process, Delhi University reserves a few seats for students who have indulged in Extracurricular Activities (ECA) during their school education. You can expect marks relaxation of up to 15% (for unreserved candidates) in merit lists. Students can take admission based on their skills in dance, music, art, photography, debating and various other activities under this quota. Yet, a student's academic percentage is still of extreme importance for admission through this category.
To avail admissions under this quota, you need to first register yourself on the official website of DU, then while filling the application form, apply for the ECA quota and present your certificates and also you will have to give trials for the selections
Hope for the best! :)
You apply online upload the required certificates, then you wait for the trial dates.
There are two levels: Preliminary and Final trials.
You first need to get selected for final trials based on your performance in preliminary trials.
In the final trials, you are given a composite score which includes marks for both your certificate(s) and your overall performance. The performance has more weightage than the certificate.
After you get your score, you have to physically go to the colleges you want to apply to.
You have to take all the relevant documents, including but not limited to your board marksheet, photocopies of the relevant certificates, your DU application form, and passport sized photos.
They will consider your application by comparing your score with other applicants, while keeping in mind their own specific needs.
This application period takes place in three phases. At the end of each phase, each college releases a list of students selected through ECA. If your name is on that list, then you can proceed to get admitted into that college.
Hope this helps0!
