Hello,

In simple words we can say that Engineering physics is a hybrid of Engineering and Physics. In Engineering physics, along with core subjects like physics and maths other subjects like computer science, nuclear physics etc will also be taught.

Career and Scope: There will be less placements for Engineering physics and most of the hiring companies will not be specifically for Bachelors in Engineering in Physics so it is suggested to do masters and make career like taking Astrophysics to work for ISRO or NASA, Work in the innovation of Automobile Industry etc or make your career in teaching physics.

However, The future demand for Engineering physics might increase in the field of Nanaotechnology, Laser technology, and quantum information systems.

Coming to the salary, It is always dependent on the post, For the posts for Engineering physics, the salaries may vary from 2LPA to 5LPA.

If you are very good at physics and have good problem solving skills, then it won't be tough for you. All the best!

Hope this helps. Thank you.

Dear,

By pursuing a degree in Engineering Physics, you can choose a career in applied Physics in industries or make a career in telecommunications, micro-devices, microelectronics, optoelectronics, nanotechnology, lasers or quantum information systems. A bachelor’s degree in this field opens the doors for pursuing Masters in Engineering by choosing a specialization in a particular field and then you can either opt for a PhD in the chosen field or work as a scientific researcher in that field. Engineering Physics graduates can also work in the field of designing, research, production and manufacturing, construction.

Placement essentially depends on the individual’s skill and area of expertise. With exceptional coding skills EP won’t come in your way of landing a job at software giant. Lots of technical and non-technical companies open up for EP. According to my knowledge, on campus highest package is around10-12 lpa.

If you have a profile best suited for a recruiting company, you have good chances of getting placed handsomely. If you are research oriented then do some concrete work, like publish papers, work on research project with professors, be an active part of technical teams. This all will assist you in narrowing your focus on the "research subject" whilst increasing your chances of masters from top institutions in world.

Hope this helps!
