Fashion communication is one of the latest areas of the fashion industry. It is an amazing field. If you take interest in fashion along with marketing, then it would be the best fit for you. The demand for the professionals of this area is significantly high. Therefore, you will have no worries regarding your growth prospects.

Need of the hour

In every industry, marketing is one of the most influential areas. Without marketing, a product cannot succeed. Fashion communication relates with fashion marketing and fashion management. It is a blend of fashion design, marketing, organization and management. The demand for good professionals of this field is increasing because brands need to grow. They cannot remain confined within their current territories. Additionally, attracting new customers is always necessary for a company. Otherwise, the company becomes dependent on a handful of consumers, which is not a good sign in any case.

the industry realized the importance of such an expert and thus, the field of fashion communication was born. It is relatively new. It did not exist a few years back. Still, it is showing great promise and wonderful growth prospects. That is so because as long as fashion designers will keep creating products, they would require a professional of fashion communication to market the same.

The industry is growing

The fashion industry is much bigger now in comparison to its past. It has become much complex as a result of it as well. You can now easily find a number of fashion brands using different marketing tactics. As the industry has expanded its reach to newer markets and unique customer bases, it has become essential to use the expertise of such professionals. Otherwise, the brands would begin to lag behind and fail to capitalize on this opportunity.

The level of competition is significantly high in the fashion industry too. There are already some established names in the market. However, they are now competing amongst themselves for the global consumers. Due to globalization, they are also facing competition from the local brands, which have a strong grasp of their areas. Apart from that, e-commerce has made it easier for new brands to enter the market. Disruptive technologies or designs are another fear because it can turn the tables instantly. Fashion marketing makes sure that the brand succeeds in increasing its customers and retaining its existing ones.

Fashion Communication is one of the most dynamic stream. Design makes business only with strong strategies and effective communication.

A creative person need not to be only an artist or a good illustrator to study fashion. If you are intrested in content writing or photography or if you are a fashion, business enthusiast who wants to work in something other than design, then you can opt for fashion communication which is very much in demand.

Fashion communication is an integrated course which consists of no. of subjects namely visual merchandising, styling, graphic design, advertising and public relations, fashion journalism, creative writing, photography, interaction design and new media design, specific to the fashion and lifestyle industry.  With this course, students will gain extensive knowledge and exposure in each of these subjetcs. This is a strong concept and multiple skill-based course where one need to be creative and smart. Students will have a practical approach towards the subject and work on  multiple projects to gain experience in the field.


In todays scenerio, customers are becoming more brand conscious. So the brand identity is very important. Brands want their businesses to be different and unique from others. Unique Identity or image can be achieved with intresting logos, catchy slogans, creative write ups for their brand compaigns and advertisements, intresting photoshoots, innovative and persuasive visual merchandising in their stores, etc. There are lot of opportunities for the students who are strong in these subjetcs.


In the age of digital culture and Social media influencers, there is a lot of scope for new bloggers, content writers who have a vision and personality with strong communication skills.


This course can be described as dynamic, as it has many career paths and one will be well versed with all these subjects which are very much important in todays fashion business.
