What is gate exam? What are its benefits? Is it necessary for getting into isro.how I become eligible for writing it.

Graduate Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national level post graduate entrance exam that is jointly conducted by the seven IITs and IISc Bangalore for admission to M.Tech programmes offered by government as well as many private institutes. The GATE Scores will be used for admission purposes in the IITs through the Common Online Admissions Portal (COAP) for IITs and CCMT for NITs. While there is no minimum pass percentage in Graduation that has been recommended for appearing in GATE, Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria for their respective streams as mentioned in this page:

Gate exam is a graduate aptitude test in engineering, it is conducted jointly by IISc and 7 IITs on behalf of the national co-ordination board.

There are many benefits of gate examination like if you want to join m.tech from top IITs then you must be clear gate exam with top ranks and also if you want to job in PSU then gate exam is very important for getting job.

ISRO conducted its own exam but from last year they are also selected students who got top ranks in gate examination.

Gate examination is only for engineering students if you are currently doing engineering in 3rd or 4th year then you are eligible for gate otherwise you are not eligible.

Hi Alfiya!!! I would like to inform you that GATE is a post-graduate exam for taking admission in IIT for doing M.Tech which you give after you B.Tech is over and there is separate exam for every streams and besides getting into IIT for M.Tech,you can also get jobs in PSU though the exam.

GATE exam is basically an entrance test for IITS NITS and some other universities AFTER completing btech. That is for after your bachelors degree. They are for engineering courses and have a complex grading system unlike jee.

The benefits are that they can be used for getting a job in the gov sector if the score is high enough and to iits.

Isro does take it into consideration but isro has its OWN entrance test (ICRB) for recruiting engineers. And then an interview round.
