A paddy variety called HMT is kept in HMT timepieces, which at the time rose to prominence. Dadaji Ramji KHobragade, a native of the Maharashtra state's Chandipur area, is a key player in popularising HMT rice. In 1990, he purchased 150 kg of seeds and spread them across 4 acres of land.
