Joint Admission Test has been conducted since the year 2004 for admissions in M. Sc. (4 semesters), integrated Ph. D. or dual M. Sc .- Ph. D., from the IITs and IISc in one of the following subjects Biotechnology, Biological Sciences, Geology, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematical Statistics. Several NITs and CFTIs also accept JAM scores for postgraduate admissions.
JAM is a very important exam for students aiming for postgraduate programmes at IITs and IISc offering a top-class education in their subject of interest. Through these programmes, the aspirants can reward themselves with a fabulous professional life ahead.
JAM exam is conducted in two sessions and you can choose a maximum of two subjects for JAM exam provided that schedule of the two subjects is not in the same session.

Application Fee - INR 1500 for 1 paper and INR 2100 for 2 papers (General/OBC)

Eligibility Details -
You must have completed a bachelor's degree in any discipline and secured minimum 55% marks or 5.5 CGPA in it.
Exam Pattern -
Mode - Online
Duration - 180 minutes
Medium - English
Total no. of Questions - 60
Total Marks - 100
The question paper is divided into 3 sections A, B, and C.
Section A -
No. of Questions – 30 questions (10, 1 mark questions and 20, 2 marks questions).
Type of question - Objective
Marking – 1/3 mark deducted for each 1 mark question and, 2/3 mark deducted for each 2 marks question answered wrong.
Section B -
No. of Questions – 10 questions
Type of questions – Multiple Select Questions (MSQs).
Marking - No negative and no partial marking.
Section C -
No. of Questions – 20 questions (10, 1 mark questions and 10, 2 marks questions).
Type of question - Numerical (number entered as the answer)
Marking – No negative and no partial marking.
