Dear Student,

In biology, kingdom is a taxonomic rank which comprises of smaller groups called phyla (or divisions, in plants). Kingdom is the highest category in the hierarchical classification of organisms created by Carolus Linnaeus around 1750.

The five biological Kingdoms (by Robert Whittaker):

  1. Kingdom Monera
  2. Kingdom Protista
  3. Kingdom Fungi
  4. Kingdom Plantae
  5. Kingdom Animalia
