NEET is for medical entrance and JEE is for engineering.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will be conducting NEET 2018 tentatively in the first week of May 2018. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2018 is conducted annually to provide admissions to eligible candidates into the medical and dental institutes across the nation. Registrations for NEET 2018 will commence tentatively from the last week of January 2018 in online mode. All interested candidates will have to fill and submit the application form tentatively by the first week of March 2018. NEET 2018 admit card will be available for registered candidates tentatively from the third week of April 2018. The conducting authorities will be accepting applications from only eligible candidates. NEET 2018 will be held in offline mode and the candidates will be required to qualify the examination to participate in the counselling session. The common counsellingconducted by Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will allot eligible candidates into the 15% All India Quota seats. For admissions into the remaining 85% State Quota seats, the respective states will conduct their own common counselling. In the previous year,NEETreceived 11,38,890 registrations for admissions into 90,000 MBBS and BDS seats.

CBSE has released the information brochure for JEE Main 2018. The pen and paper based exam will be conducted on April 8, 2018 and computer based test on April 15 and April 16, 2018. The application form for JEE Main 2018 will be available from December 1 to January 1, 2018. The last date to pay the application fee is January 2, 2018. JEE Main is the national level entrance exam conducted for admissions to undergraduate engineering programmes into NITs, IIITs and other CFTIs.JEE Mainis also the qualifying test for JEE Advanced which offers admission to IITs. Candidates will be allowed a total of three attempts for JEE Main. To apply for JEE Main 2018, candidates must have completed or are appearing for Class 12 exam. From the academic year 2017-18, having an Aadhaar Card number is mandatory for filling the application form. Every year, over 12 lakh candidates appear in this national level engineering entrance test. The admit card will be available for download from the second week of March tentatively. Candidates who have appeared for the examination can check JEE Main 2018 result on April 30.

It essentially has 2 stages, the first being JEE MAIN, through which admissions are conducted into various NITs, IIITs and the like.
A candidate becomes eligible for appearing for the second semester age of examination after he/she clears the cutoff for first stage, this stage is JEE ADVANCED, the merit list of which is considered for conducting admissions into IITs across the nation.
These exams essentially consist of objective based questions each from maths, Physics and chemistry.
Coming to medical entrance, for which we have a similar national level examination called NEET or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. This examination is conducted for admissions into various government medical colleges across the nation, barring AIIMS and JIPMER who conduct their own medicine entrance. This is a single stage examination which is objective based and questions are essentially asked from biology, physics and Chemistry.
A merit list is prepared on an All India Rank basis and the students who qualify for the All 15% quota seats then appear for an online counselling procedure for seat allotment.

JEE Main is the first level of engineering entrance exam clearing which candidates can get admission to B.Tech programmes offered at NITs, IIITs, CFTIs and many other institutes. Only those candidates who clear JEE main with ranks upto 2,24,000 will be eligible to appear in JEE Advanced, the next level engineering entrance exam. Candidates who will clear JEE Advanced will get admission to IITs, the most prestigious engineering institutions across the country.
NEET is a common entrance exam for admission to medical colleges across the country.
